United Shore Financial Services, parent company to United Wholesale Mortgage, has been tied to more than 50 cases of COVID-19, according to an emergency order issued by the Oakland County (Michigan) Health Division.

The order, issued last week, said that the division had received “numerous complaints” that United Shore’s Pontiac, Mich., location was operating in direct violation of a Michigan executive order requiring masks to be worn “when in an indoor space.”

“In addition, over 50 confirmed cases reported being employees that work for the Pontiac United Shore location,” the order said.

The Health Division ordered United Shore to take several steps to prevent further transmission of the disease, including:

  • Developing and implementing a plan to manage and control social distancing at a minimum of six feet
  • Ensuring employees wear masks
  • Developing and implementing a daily screening process and a “stay home when sick” policy
  • Encouraging remote work when possible

In a statement to Crain’s Detroit Business, a company spokesperson said that United Shore had taken “extensive measures to ensure compliance” with state and federal guidelines.

“We feel confident with the steps we have taken to ensure the continued safety for our team members while they are here in our building,” the spokesperson said.
