Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Thames has partnered with mental health charity, Mates in Mind.
The agreement will see all line managers of the housebuilder given a ‘Manage the Conversation’ course.
The course has been tailored by Mates in Mind to fit the business and advise staff on where help and guidance can be found.
In addition, the partnership aims to promote positive mental wellbeing within the workplace.
According to the housebuilder, one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year and 89% of workers with mental health problems report an impact on their working life.
Furthermore, the charity provides clear information to employers on mental health, mental illness and mental wellbeing, and how they can address this within their organisations.
Stephen Haynes, head of programme at Mates in Mind, said: “It’s important that those in charge are equipped with the tools to be able to be that person that employees can go to if they need someone to talk to.
“It’s an ongoing education that provides managers with the tools to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses.”
Simon Francis, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Thames, added: “We understand how important it is to address mental health in the workplace and we want all of our employees to feel that they have someone to talk to if they are struggling.
“Our work with Mates in Mind has been of great help and guidance and we look forward to our continued partnership.”
