Common Securitization Solutions (CSS), a joint venture owned by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, has announced a new addition to its executive management team.

The firm said Tuesday that industry veteran Susan Gueli, former chief information officer of Nationwide Financial, joined the company as chief technology officer. Gueli will also serve as a member of the CSS Executive Committee.

In her new role, Gueli will be in charge of all of the company’s technology initiative, as well as developing and implementing all aspects of the Common Securitization Platform. She will help position CSS for “commercial success and drive operational excellence and continuous process improvement,” according to the firm’s press release.

“CSS is very pleased to welcome Susan to our executive management team,” said Tony Renzi, CEO of Common Securitization Solutions. “CSS is the technological backbone of the agency mortgage-backed security (MBS) market, administering $5 trillion in agency MBS, and our CTO position is among the most important in all of housing finance. I’m thrilled that Susan is on board to set the vision and guide the technological future of CSS both today and in a post-conservatorship world.”

Gueli, a seasoned technology leader with more than three decades of experience, has held various senior roles at Nationwide. Most recently, she worked as chief technology officer of Nationwide’s Program and Application Service. Additionally, Gueli served as chief information of Nationwide Financial and its infrastructure and operations division.
